I would go with Ancestry. I have a monthly subscription. It has loads of records and easy to use.
I've never used The Genealogist but I might try it out now.

It seems to be a bit of a Mystery.
The family want to get the death certificate to see why he died, but can't find an index.
They are sure of the death date from a family bible, and other internet searches.
I think this one is a lost cause!
