Re: It got a bit wet today....

I've had an email from a friend in Brisbane this morning, very bad there too. A tiny stream at the bottom of her garden looks like a river.

Re: Ask Doug!-- our Garden expert in the Snug!

Mine died last year! Dont know what was wrong, it was always cut back and had lovely flowers. Shame. Jo Probably Honey Fungus, it seems to attack lots of things in my garden of a woody nature, even fully grown old trees. Unfortunately most of the 'cures' are just as likely to kill the tree. Re: Ask Doug!-- our Garden expert in the Snug!

Time now to prune Buddleia Davidii (Butterfly Bush). Cut each branch as low as possible, to just above a sprouting shoot, the lower down the better. Done mine this morning.

Re: When was the last time you used public transport

We use the Park and Ride facilities when visiting towns where it is expensive to park in town, as well as avoiding the hassle of finding a place to park. We have used these at Worcester, Shrewsbury, Stratford-upon-Avon, Ludlow and other towns further afield. Using our passes most are entirely free, ...

Re: Leylandi turning brown

There is quite a lot on Google regarding the conifer aphid. It seems this has been responsible recently for Leylandii turning brown. However one writer reckons that milder ????? winters have caused the aphid to survive and spread. Think it may not spread quite as quickly after this winter. Not a lot...

Re: Black country words and phrases

Replying to Suki's poem in November. How strange, I have only just seen it. My Mother used to recite something very similar and I understood it to be a proposal of marriage. My version goes Wot a nice night it is wot a many stars. Wot a nice grert yown is wot a many bars. Arn aksed yer ferther, dain...

Re: Sports Talk - FOOTBALL

Sorry to butt in on this serious subject, as I am not really a football fan but tend to watch 'certain' teams if they happen to be playing. Must admit those 'certain' teams don't appear to be doing very well at present. My question is "How do you watch?" Apart from actually attending the g...

Re: (Completed) Skype

I use Skype all the time. It is better with a webcam but it still works without one. I speak to people all over, as far away as Australia and it's FREE. You maybe get a slight time lag but nothing serious and the pictures can be a bit blurry, I think that may depend on the quality of the webcam. You...

Re: What do we mean by Family Tree ?

Just a thought if you are using Excel - do you realise that you can turn it from sideways to downwards by using paste transpose? - would that help? I can see why you call yourself Maths girl Must confess that command is a new one on me, been using Excel for years but never come across that before. ...

Re: Facebook??

I am on Facebook, as well as Farmville and Yoville, which come under the same banner. My wife and I compete to get the most animals and buildings on our farm. Kid's stuff? Yes, maybe it is and at 77 I ought to have more sense but it's only a bit of fun. However, two of my four grandsons have cut me ...

Re: What do we mean by Family Tree ?

Must say that the idea of slips of paper is a good one, even if a little fiddly. It strikes me that a large ready made picture frame, with white backing could be used in a similar manner and being under glass would be less liable to damage. I am thinking more in terms of perhaps doing it as a one ti...
