Matthew Dod was baptised in Melverley Shropshire on the 9th April 1738
This is recorded in two places....
Text: 09 Apr 1738 Matthew s. of John Dod bap.
Book: Mort Roll from 1781 in the Register House, Edinburgh.
Collection: Shropshire: Melverley, Selattyn - Parish Registers, St. Asaph Diocese
and
Text: 09 Apr 1738 Matthew s. of John Dod bap.
Book: Marriages. (Marriage)
Collection: Shropshire: Melverley - Parish Registers, 1723-1812
My question is....why would Matthew be in the Scottish register if baptised in Shropshire?
Is this "Mort Roll" a register of deaths started in 1781? i.e Matthew died in Scotland post 1781?
I assume that when you moved to a new Parish, you informed them of your baptism details.
I have seen central registers for Presbyterians but the Melverley baptism was C of E.
