Is there enough here ?
Here are 3 certs that I have
The top one is a birth cert for my grandfather, William Tipping. His father and mother are, as you can see, John Henry and Ada Elizabeth Powell. With this info I found and ordered their marriage cert. This is in the centre. This now gives me ages and fathers names. Ada's info is as far as I can determine pretty much correct. I have her death cert from 1961 giving her age at death as 76. This tallys with the marriage cert for a birth in 1885. Problem lies with John Henry.
The last cert is the birth I ordered for John Henry.
Concerning him:
I know from my grandfathers, William, marriage cert that John Henry is deceased by 1/10/1932
Death:
John H. TIPPING - age 51 - 6d 382 Birmingham N. Sep 1930 qtr
The 1911 Census index has John H. TIPPING born in Birmingham, Warwickshire
The only birth record which corresponds with this information is:
John Henry TIPPING - 6d 3 Birmingham Sep 1879 qt That is the last cert in the pic.
Could anyone please advise if you think that there is enough here to reasonably say I have the right person, and so be able to continue the search back from him?

You will also find an entry in 1881 for the joseph and mary ann you have in subsequent census that also has infant john henry. He appears to be listed twice in 1881. Once with his parents and once with his grandparents

This wsa my point that John for this family had "left home" by 1911 which adds evidence to him being the one in the marriage certificate

Yes I found this too
1881 3, Court No 13 Lower Essex St, Birmingham
TIPPING, Joseph Head Married M 31 1850 Grocers Assistant Upton on Severn Herefordshire
TIPPING, Mary Ann Wife Married F 23 1858 Birmingham Warwickshire
TIPPING, John Son Single M 1 1880 Birmingham Warwickshire
TIPPING, ? Son Single M 0 1881 Birmingham Warwickshire
Presumably the unkown baby is Joseph who had not been registered by then being under 1 month and grandparents were helping out -- perhaps at short notice and hence the confusion as to where to enumerate JOhn

Re: Is there enough here ?
Thank you for posting the census returns. I have been over these so many times trying to find a way to link it to my marriage cert. From looking at his entry in 1911 his birth is given as birmingham. I know he dies before 1932 according to a grandfathers marriage cert. I also have him in the birmingham electoral roll for 1930 yet gone in the next.
This leads me to the death index above. As I mentioned the only birth cert that matches is the one I have now acquired. I feel that I have the right person/certificate, but do I have enough in black and white to be able to add him within my family? Especially as his birth and marriage certs don't seem to match too well
