ARC tbc - Blanco relative search hit brick wall need help!

Post by wallydog »

Hi
I'm new to this forum.
I have been researching my family tree but have now now hit a brick wall!
I have traced a relative to the Philippine Islands called Emilio Blanco born around 1851. He was mentioned on the 1871 cencus at the earliest as a nephew
to Pedro Blanco living in Liverpool. The place of birth is Spaniard, but on a later census he is down as Philippine Islands. I am trying to find his birth certificate and
where his father came from Francisco (as named on his marraige certificate). I would also like to find out his mothers name.

Any information or help would be grateful.

I have visited The National Archives to find out how he got to the UK but have found no info.

Many thanks

Thankyou so much Maths girl for all your replies.
I have most of the census information except for the 1911, many thanks for that!
I will look into the marraige certificate also!

Any ideas on where I could access info about their entry into this country? Other than go to the Philippines I'm not sure how to access birth records for Emilio.

Many thanks once again! :P

Is one of these a possibility for Francisco -- it says he is a merchant

Francisco Blanco
Port of Arrival: Southampton, England
Arrival Date: 23 Jan 1851
Port of Departure: West Indies
Ship: Trent
Country of Origin/Native of: Peru
Class: HO 3
Piece: 59
this one states he is a merchant on the original

Francisco Blanco
Port of Arrival: Dover, England
Arrival Date: 28 Jan 1852
Country of Origin/Native of: Spainsh American
Class: HO 2
Certificate Number: 49

Original has his signature but no other info

I don't know how you can find out any more info than this --maybe someone else can enlighten us.

Wow thanks again Maths girl!

Which search engine did you find this info from?
The Uncle is a definate possibility, do any of them say they have Emilio Blanco travelling with them please?
All the info I have on them starts in Liverpool, but that's not to say that they travelled up there. I just presumed that they docked into Liverpool, but Emilio has travelled all over the UK. His kids have been born all over - Bristol, Bath, Leeds, London, Leicester.

You may be able to help me with this odd piece of info: On the 1891 census it states that Emilio and Emmeline (his wife) had two children in 1877. Francisco was born in London, but then I found Alberto born in the same year (in Leeds) residing at a naughty boys school in Halifax in 1891 census. How could they be born the same year? I cannot find any birth certificate for Francisco born in Dalston, London, but have Alberto's.

Many thanks again this has helped me a great deal.

I am not sure what you are asking here -- isn't this the 1891 census
1891 4, Northleigh Houses, Green Lane, Evington, Leicester
BLANCO, Emilio Head Married M 39 1852 Clicker Shoe Trade Philipine Islands
BLANCO, Emmeline Wife Married F 34 1857 Hackney London
BLANCO, Francisco Son Single M 14 1877 Clickers Apprentice Shoe Trade Dalston London
BLANCO, Emmeline Lizzie Daughter F 10 1881 Scholar Bristol
BLANCO, Edward Son M 8 1883 Leeds Yorkshire
BLANCO, Ada Daughter F 2 1889 Leicester

Do you mean the 1881 census that I haven't been able to track down yet?

As to two children in the same year -- remember the census only records ages and the year of birth is calculated from that -- and so can be out -- the two boys could in theory have been born 9 months apart in different places and still be recorded as the same age.
