Rite this is why she was Basterfield.....if these are her parents

http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... onnections

they are down as Basterfield
for some reason

so we need to find out if that John and Phobe are her parents
looks promising bricklayer/mason for John
son Edward do we have a bapt for him too?

then we can link up Sarah to John and Pheobe

but what do we do with surnames
I remember we had this on Bastable and Basterfield before

Have we a marriage for John and Phebe Basterfield/Bastable/Bastaple

and then we can make a decision what to call this lot
they are basterfield on census ...but then the name on census is not always to be believed

That 1841 is putting dob for John abt 1786-1791
if married in 1802
suppose possible b abt 1785....but young

so we may have 2 of them
2 Johns
both masons

need him and phebe on 1851 to determine dob

To all concerned, this is my family of which you speak.
John Bastable(1749) was my 4 times great grandfather's brother and was married to Sarah Andrews. Their son John (1783) married Phoebe Crumpton and their children were Elizabeth(1805), William (1807), Anne(1810), Fanny (1811), George (1814) and Sarah(1815).
Sarah married twice. Her first husband was Benjamin Chatwin and her second Thomas Partridge.
On the subject of the confusion between Bastable and Basterfeld, they are completely different names with different ancient origins. The problem arises I believe because there were many more Basterfields in the area than there were of us and I know was often entered incorrectly in the census for example. I have often been listed myself as Basterfield on team sheets, things like that.
I don't know whether the above family info helps.

This would be good to get on BCC.

You got evidence of these marriages and children for us, Neville?

So we must have 2 families then
one with Edward and one with the others

this one here...down as Basterfield on census and on bapts
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... onnections

could do with the rest of the kids entered for these accord to the bapts if anyone has the time

and then we have this one

The Bastables....with Sarah and Fanny....need again the other kids entered with bapts if anyone has the time pls
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... =757674561

odd them both being masons/bricklayers
