*Arc tbc* --BMD-Death for Thomas Wright

Post by Lady Jane »

This one has also been driving me a bit nuts. Thomas Wright married Sarah Holt in 1820 in Kingswinford. They had several children, of course, but in the 1841 census Sarah is with (I say "with" because I cannot find a marriage record for her) a William Smith. She gives her last name as Smith. She and William have 2 children, Edward (age 4) and Joseph (age 1). Also living with them are 2 of Sarah's children by Thomas; Martha (age 15) and Harriett (age 5). So what happened to Thomas? If he dies, it has to be between 1833 (when Harriett was born) and 1834 (when Edward is born). It is possible that Edward could be Thomas' son, but Sarah puts him down as a Smith? I have known of that happening in a census. Is there anyway for someone to look up a death for Thomas Wright in either Kingswinford or Brierly Hill between 1833 and 1840? (Thomas' kids were born in Brierly Hill. In 1841, Sarah is in Kingswinford, or is it all the same thing? Not being in Staffordshire, I have no idea. Sorry!)
Oh, and another quick question, in 1820, would there be witnessess listed on a marriage record? :?:
Thanks for any help!

Hi NL!
Cool, then I guess I am asking. Could you see if there are any witnessess for Thomas Wright and Sarah Holt? Married 5 Nov 1820 Kingswinford. But the LDS does not mention church, of course. Hope this helps! You are the best! MWAH! :P

it has to be between 1833 (when Harriett was born) and 1834 (when Edward is born). It is possible that Edward could be Thomas' son,

between 1833 and 1837 if edward 4 ?
A person should have an opinion on everything, It becomes tact whether you reveal that opinion or not.

Hey Pete,
Well, that is what I am thinking... tho really, his death could be anywhere from 1833 to 1840. Just to be safe. I do wonder, did Tom die before youngest daughter with Sarah is born? (Harriett was baptised on 3 Feb, 1833) But I do have an LDS record for a Joseph Wright born to Thomas and Sarah Wright, baptised 9 Jun 1839. No Edward. Either Wright or Smith. Maybe Tom didn't die, he and Sarah just split? Which would be rather funny, seeing as their great granddaughter left her husband for another.... I will not count anything out right now. I have learned that much in this wild chase of mine!
