I have several records Mr Smith gives his birth date as 7th Oct 1877 BRICK WALL" the GPO in UK have advised me to stop searching as no such person is born on 7th Oct in the entire county of Warwickshire in searches 1873-1884 The way forward is face recognition, calling on all families connected to surname Smith in Warwickshire is he in your photo album ? His father is believed to have been William Henry Smith, Engineer

Assuming he was born near Lowther Street in Warwickshire that would make his parish Coventry.
Looking at the parish register of St John The Baptist in Coventry there is a William Smith born 12th October 1877 baptised on the 14th December 1887.
Parents are William and Elizabeth and their address was 8H 11C West Orchard.
William Snr's occupation is Labourer.
10 years before Baptism? Sounds like this one was adopted.
