I have found the town that Joseph Redding (jnr) was born in was West Meath. Is there anything new I can do with this information??

Aha...I did not even notice that Thomas was found an not Joseph as I only searched for Joseph.

Did the same search for Joseph and the same record for Thomas came up so it is the indexing that is a bit strange.....

So no, there is not logic why this Thomas should be Joseph.

County Westmeath or a a town called West Meath?

His enlistment says Town: West something or other. I can't read it. County: Dublin.

Closest I can find in the Civil Registry is for Redden, not Redding.

This would be Auntie Elizabeth Southern's death. Sometimes the witness to the death can give you a clue.

Name: SOUTHERN, Elizabeth
Registration district: [?] Warrington
County: Lancashire
Year of registration: 1929
Quarter of registration: Oct-Nov-Dec
Age at death:63
Volume no: 8C
Page no: 151

Might be Thomas Southern's death...

Name: SOUTHERN, Thomas
Registration district: [?] Salford
County: Lancashire
Year of registration: 1910
Quarter of registration: Apr-May-Jun
Age at death:41
Volume no: 8D
Page no: 49

Thank you once again for taking the trouble to help me. :-)

I really do not think that the Joseph Redden is my great grandad as his mother is listed as Margaret not Mary.

I had not come across a death record for Elizabeth Southern so I think that I may apply for her death certificate and see who the witness was. I have a feeling that it will probably be my grandad or his sister though. It can't hurt though.
