The Wittons I have are all Black Country, but this lady's ancestor was born in Sheffield. I think his father may have been from Gospelend, Staffs. though?

Frederick Whitton apparently emigrated to Australia about 1923
His father was William Whitton born abt 1879 Sheffield
William had married a Gertrude Horten in 1900 and on his marriage certificate I have been told that his father is listed as John, puddler deceased.
There is this census for 1881 ....
Carlise St East 3 No 5 CT, Brightside Bierlow, Sheffield, Yorkshire
John Witton, 43,head,married, puddler steel works, born Gospelend, Staffs
Ann, 37, wife, born Bilston
Elizabeth,13,daughter, born Goldegreen,Staffs
Ellen,8,daughter, born Leabrook,Staffs
Agnes,4,daughter, born Sheffield
William,1,son,born Sheffield
Job,1month, son, born Sheffield
So if that is the right William, then he could be connected to the Black Country Wittons
His father John may well be the John Witton on BCC here....

I suppose we could do with tracking down a marriage for John and wife Ann?....
and also earlier censuses?
Usual problems with whether this is Whitton or Witton

Any thoughts?
