Re: Query on the Plants
Theres something amiss with the christenings too that doesnt seem to add up.
John Plant 22 Apr 1821 Dudley, Worcester, parents: James Plant, Nancy Plant
Eliza Plant 24 Jun 1821 Dudley, Worcester, parents: James Plant, Ann Plant
John Plant 24 Jun 1821 Dudley, Worcester, parents: James Plant, Ann Plant
One christening 22nd June and 2x christenings on 24th June 1821.
Why wait 2 days for the others to be done?
John Plant 22 Apr 1821 Dudley, Worcester, parents: James Plant, Nancy Plant
Eliza Plant 24 Jun 1821 Dudley, Worcester, parents: James Plant, Ann Plant
John Plant 24 Jun 1821 Dudley, Worcester, parents: James Plant, Ann Plant
One christening 22nd June and 2x christenings on 24th June 1821.

Re: Query on the Plants
It's 21 April, Jo. That might suggest that Nancy is not the same as Ann on that occasion and that we have two different couples. Eliza and John could have been twins born to James and Ann. If we divided out the Nancy from the Ann entries, that would give, for Nancy:
Noah Plant 10 Apr 1799 St Thomas Dudley, parents: James Plant, Nancy
James Plant 29 May 1796 St Thomas Dudley, death date: 10 Aug 1796, parents: James Plant, Nancy
Thomas Plant 13 Jan 1805 St Thomas Dudley, death date: 15 Jul 1810, parents: James Plant, Nancy
Betsey Plant 23 Nov 1806 Tipton Stafford, parents: James Plant, Nancy
Mary Plant 29 May 1808 Tipton Stafford, parents: James Plant, Nancy
William Plant 3 Mar 1811 St Thomas Dudley, parents: James Plant, Nancy
Ann Plant 11 Oct 1812 St Thomas Dudley, parents: James Plant, Nancy
Thomas Plant 29 May 1814 Dudley, Worcester, parents: James Plant, Nancy Plant
Harriot Plant 5 May 1816 St Thomas Dudley, parents: James Plant, Nancy
John Plant 22 Apr 1821 Dudley, Worcester, parents: James Plant, Nancy Plant
And for Ann:
Mary Plant 4 Jun 1797 St Thomas Dudley parents: James Plant, Ann
James Plant 8 May 1803 St Thomas Dudley, death date: 4 Apr 1805, parents: James Plant, Ann
Sarah Plant 22 Feb 1807 St Thomas Dudley, parents: James Plant, Ann
Joseph Plant 5 Mar 1809 Dudley, Worcester, parents: James Plant, Ann
Elias Plant 22 Sept 1811 Tipton, Stafford, parents: James Plant, Ann
Eliza Plant 24 Jun 1821 Dudley, Worcester, parents: James Plant, Ann Plant
John Plant 24 Jun 1821 Dudley, Worcester, parents: James Plant, Ann Plant
But that might leave a troubling gap of ten years for Ann, 1811-1821, although a late birth is not impossible. Are further details of these baptisms available anywhere? And there's the Tipton v. Dudley problem.

That looks like two James Plants to me, especially as there seem to be two John's. Could be they're related somehow.

Re: Query on the Plants
I'm at my wit's end with this one, Jan and Jo! I think the only honest solution is to flag up the problem on BCC and hope that, sooner or later, we can come up with and answer.

Re: Query on the Plants
I am leaving it with jo!
But I do think if we have bapts with James and Ann and James and Nancy we need to divide up between the couples
I know Nancy / Ann can be interchangeable but I have found that they seem to be a particular couple, perhaps known
to the vicar and so spelt that way.
Maybe Move James to the Tipton one with a note? But I don't want to leave them as they are.
Or delete them all and add split as above.
Over to you JO!
can we look at each of the marriages for the kids and see if wits have any clues?
or are you doing that ....not following thread at moment

Re: *Jo sorting*...Query on the Plants
On BCC
1841. Grey Stone Street, Dudley
Edward Edwards, 34
Ann, 34
/James Plant, 65
John, 18
All born in County
This looks like it could be fatherin law James Plant born around 1776 and possibly his son John born around 1823. We have on BCC James born around 1774 and John born around 1821.
It looks like to me we do have the children to the wrong James...
