I wonder if this is the 1861 entry for Mary Ann in Kings Norton only surname is Goodyer I think and Ancestry has Goodger
William 33 bayonet grinder born Kings Norton Mary A 26 born Aston John William7 born Kings Norton William 5 born Birmingham Joseph 3 born Birmingham
Hard to know if it is or isn't
PS Mary Ann Goodall, 37 years old(widow)with sons John 17, William 15 & Joseph 13 at 83 Longmore St. Birmingham in 1871. (I see this as being Kings Norton not Birmingham)

I will be studying and checking it all with what I have already found.
peterd, that is a very good question, the answer to which I believe you will either find intriguing or likely to have you dismiss me as a bit mad.
Sorry to have been a while in replying but I think you will appreciate why I have taken a little time to word a reply
The reason that I am trying to link the two families is because I have met with a descendent of the Hampshire Goodalls via two incredible documented coincidences not connected with genealogy, which in my opinion defy chance, but which I will not go into at present.
I have also found one definite link between the Goodalls in the Birmingham area and my ancestors.
If I can find a link between the two sets of Goodalls, which incidentally because of the coincidences mentioned, I feel sure is there, then I will have discovered a third documented coincidence.
I am trying to get my findings published as they stand now, but obviously would be happier if I could complete this final coincidence.
I don't suppose that you have come across a motive for genealogical research like this before or even but I assure you that I am very serious.
i think in saying it a serious subject for us all an problerly more for you if it involves a publication but you can see were limited with our options with out the Knowledge you possess if you can give use anymore detial without compromising your posistion it would help use to help you .

peterd, thanks again. i am trying to work out the best thing to do, whilst struggling with pain from impacted wisdom tooth which makes even thinking difficult. I will get back to you asap Thanks also to others who I will also get back to Ron555
Many years ago I met someone who I was a descendent of
JOHN & JEMIMA GOODALL married 8 Aug 1836 in HAMPSHIRE
There are 2 extraordinary and connected geographical coincidences that link two of her cousins to myself and a close relative of mine.
The odds against the two coincidences being due to chance are enormous, because they are dependant upon each other, necessitating that the odds against each( which are very large anyway) be multiplied together.
This discovery on it's own was enough for me to believe that there was something unusual going on and when taken with the circumstances prior to our meeting, lead me to look for an explanation beyond the commonplace.
When I discovered that my Grandfather CHARLES ROBERT PHILLIPS aged 12, had lived next door to a family of GOODALLS in 1891, but in CHEAPSIDE BIRMINGHAM not HAMPSHIRE, I decided to see if it was possible to link the two families together and therebye establish some sort of link using genealogy between myself and the person that I had met.
This is all very odd I know but that is what I intend to do if possible.
Is any of this of any use?
Just one more thing, I also found another possible link between neighbours, but I now think it might be a red herring.
MARY ANN GOODALL 37 and CHARLES R PHILLIPS 31 ( Not my Grandfather) AT 83 & 85 respectively, Longmore Street, Kings Norton in 1871
His brother THOMAS PHILLIPS was a bedstead maker and Mary Ann's son John 17 was a bedstead castor which I thought might be a link.
Unfortunately, thanks to Gardener( you were right, thanks) I now know that Mary Ann married
WILLIAM GOODGER as all the children in the 1861 census check out with the 1871 census, so I guess that line of enquiry is kaput, as I suppose I will not be able to link GOODGER in BIRMINGHAM to GOODALL in HAMPSHIRE, or will I?
I also found the same as you did extracted poss john
