My great great great grandfather was the lodgekeeper... George ECCLESHALL ( born 1797 Forton, Staffs).. I don't know what year he got the job though!
I found every census from 1851 to his death in 1870 but just can't find the 1841 one.
Did 'district numbers' change from one census to the next.. ie.. The lodge was in district 12 of Ladywood in 1851 but doesn't seem to be in district 12 in 1841?
If he was the lodgekeeper by 1841 , I would expect George's household to look something like....
George ECCLESHALL( born 1797, Staffs) lodgekeeper
Mary ECCLESHALL( born 1797 Staffs)
Eliza ECCLESHALL(born 1822 Staffs)
Joseph ECCLESHALL(born 1828 Staffs)
Samuel ECCLESHALL( born 1829 B'ham)
Thomas ECCLESHALL(born 1830 B'ham)
Oliver ECCLESHALL(born 1835 B'ham)
Richard ECCLESHALL(born 1837 B'ham)
Hannah ECCLESHALL(born 1838 B'ham)
The lodge was built in 1827
...so I don't know if George was the first lodgekeeper or if there was someone else there first?
from 1828 onwards his children all appear to have been born in Birmingham ( based on the info. on the censuses which follow)...so I am assuming they are resident in Birmingham by 1841
Hope that all makes sense
many Thanks
