Samuel is someone I dont know. William had John, Ellen, Fanny and Sampson? Benjamin c 1937 (on some censes) He had no brothers called Samuel either.

Perhaps the William we found in 1911 is the wrong one then. We need to find a William with a connection to a Samuel to either confirm or rule him out.

Yes I agree. He was as you know proprietor of the Rising Sun/Royal Oak till 1892. Is there any way of checking electoral rolls?

'fraid not Judith - Electoral Rolls at Smethwick Archives don't start until 1919.

The only thing we can do is trace the later William and see if he fits into another family.

This one looks likely - because the Mansell name was mentioned in one of the wills
