Re: John BILLINGTON born abt 1808

Thanks very much for that linell. It's really appreciated, and gives me things to consider. The John Billington of this thread could well be the one christened in 1812, but there's no direct link from the records.

Re: John BILLINGTON born abt 1808

I think that most of the Langley/Warley christenings were at Halesowen. I found these, St John the Baptist Halesowen:- 6.10.1835 Charles Billington illegitimate son of Rebecca Billington of Langley Green Nailer. 15.3.1829 William Billington son of Charles and Sarah Billington of Langley Green Labou...

Re: John BILLINGTON born abt 1808

OK thanks for all those. I think you've answered my original queries. The Charles Billington from the BCC, and the IGI record for a John Billington baptised at Halesowen 1812 seem to have some scope for being relevant, but I can't be definitive about those. I've not had any success in locating any o...

Re: John BILLINGTON born abt 1808

Thanks for all those replies. Its Worley Bank and used to be the home/estate of John Nuttal, one of the local Upper Class Snobs. Do you know where the Worley Bank home/estate is located in relation to modern mapping. Is it close to Langley Green or can you maybe put it into context with any areas f...

Re: John BILLINGTON born abt 1808

the wits on marriage no use? they often help with finding siblings etc Yes, I've found that useful before. The witnesses, William and Rebecca Bashford, appear to be from the bride's side. Apparently John Billington and Mary Ann were given as Bachelor and Spinster of the Parish. Both signed with a c...

Completed ---John BILLINGTON born abt 1808

One of the people on my family tree is John Billington born abt 1808. I've located him on the Census returns from 1841 to 1881, and I have his death certificate from 1885 in the smethwick area. He starts on the records as an Agricultural labourer and ends up as an Iron Worker. I also know/believe he...

Hello there

Hi Everybody, My name is Darren, and I've been researching my family tree recently. I'm from the UK and live in NW England. I've discovered that a number of my ancestors appear to originate from the West Midlands area in the early 19th century, and I'm keen to try to find out more about the place an...
