My grandad Joseph Nathan Taylor was a self taught musician - he used to play the organ at the Waterloo Methodist Mission in Blackpool and had a pedal organ in the front room. Before this (and before my time) he was a member of several bands and I understand from my dad's cousin Geoffrey Willetts that he played the cornet but had to stop when he accidentally left it on a train and couldn't replace it. The 1928 diary he kept (the year he moved to Blackpool) shows he went to band practice in Lytham and also to one in Blackpool.
