ARC TBC..............Davies/Billingham Connection

Post by nailer2011 »

Jan,

Sorry to make a a further reference to the Billinghams

However, while checking my research on the (H)Ingley family of Isaac Ingley who married Esther (nee Perry), I noticed that BCC has a record of the marriage of Isaac's daughter, Elizabeth, to Joseph Davies and some of their children, but it also has a separate entry for the marriage of a Mary Davies (born abt 1832) to James Billingham in St Thomas Church on 12 February 1849. However, I believe that this Mary is another daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Davies and she is the Mary shown with the family in Fox Oak, Rowley Regis in the 1841 census.

The BCC entry for Mary Davies shows that her 1849 marriage certificate identifies her father as Joseph Davies, a 'Carter' and the 1851 census shows Joseph and Elizabeth living in Five Ways, Rowley Regis where he is a 'Carter'.

A bit of consolidation :?:

Jan,

you are too efficient for me :!:

My research revealed records on the LDS site showing the christenings of five (5) children of Isaac and Esther in the Parish Church, Rowley Regis, Staffordshire; Josiah on 18 April 1790, Shadrach on 18 March 1792, Phoebe on 20 April 1794, Elizabeth on 12 September 1798 and Rosannah on 9 December 1804 (buried on 18 December 1805). These were confirmed from a transcript of the Rowley Regis Parish Records. Also, according to Nigel Brown of 'CradleyLinks' and other online records, another son, Noah was born on 7 March 1796 but was not baptised (in St Thomas"™ Church, Dudley) until 13 January 1814. An LDS record was found which seems to confirm this.

A transcript of the Rowley Regis Parish Registers shows the burial of an Esther Ingeley, wife of Isaac, on 26 December 1810; the cause of death is shown as "˜Dropsy"™ (an old term for the swelling of soft tissues due to the accumulation of excess water and today is described as "˜edema due to congestive heart failure)"™. On this record Esther"™s age is shown as 51 years.

Hope this helps :-)

Will try to follow up with more info in a few days.
