Seeking Thomas Jackson glass engraver in York
I have an ancestor Thomas Jackson who was a successful glass engraver and art dealer, living in Amsterdam in the early 19th century. We have since found out he was born in York in around 1791/2. I am having difficulty tracing his family further back because whenever I put York into the family search database, it brings up every Thomas Jackson in the whole of Yorkshire at the time. I think he may have been from a family of glass engravers - are there local trade directories so that I could narrow down the search?

A person should have an opinion on everything, It becomes tact whether you reveal that opinion or not.

Sadly there are no directories here for York in the late 18th century. So still a blank at present.

I have many Yorkshire directories covering 1800 to 1850 but can't find any Jackson glass engravers.

Re: ARC TBC - Seeking Thomas Jackson glass engraver in York
I found Thomas's father John Jackson, a plumber (worker in lead) and glazier who was living in York in the 1790s in a local trade directory. I have not found out when or why Thomas moved to Holland.
Thanks for the help
