While on the subject of this GUEST family, it may help BCC to know that my research suggests that Elijah's brother JOHN GUEST married ANN MARIA HUGHES (nee KENDRICK) in the Parish Church, Rowley Regis on 18 July 1858. A copy of the marriage certificate shows John (aged 23 years) was a widower and Ann Maria (aged 24 years) a widow and he is described as a Miner. His father is shown as Benjamin Guest, Horse Nail Maker, and Ann Maria's father is shown as Joseph Kendrick, also a Horse Nail Maker. The witnesses are William Winwood and Sarah Taylor.

No information yet found on John's first marriage. :?:

JOHN GUEST died in the September quarter of 1858 and Ann Maria subsequently had a daughter, SARAH ANN GUEST; a copy of her birth certificate confirms her father was John Guest, Coal Miner - Deceased  and that she was born in Two Gates, Cradley on 31 January 1859.

ANN MARIA KENDRICK had previously been married to Amos Hughes (but no record of that marriage has yet been found) and had a son with him, also called Amos Hughes.

The 1861 census shows Ann Maria (Guest) living in Fatherless Barn, Cradley with her parents Joseph andv Ann Kendrick and her 2 children, Amos (Hughes) and Sarah Ann Guest.

Ann Maria subsequently married again in 1861 to a Jacob Friend.

Sarah Ann Guest is my direct link to this family.

This is really odd

She "marries" Amos pre 1858

She marries John Guest 1858
he dies 1858 (sept qtr)

She then marries again
1861
GUEST Ann M FRIEND Jacob Oldswinford, St Mary Dudley Register Office 003/007/135

but in 1861 if that is Amos she marries he is still alive

and living with him some Kendricks

can someone post the 1861 pls with full details for amos
