From the "mess of TAYLORS" thread
kdw had very kindly found this...
Did find this in 1891
William Proctor Head M 60 Coal Miner Born Nuneaton Warwickshire
Sarah Proctor Wife 54 Born West Bromwich
Joseph Proctor Son 23 Coal Miner Born West Bromwich
Samuel Proctor Son 15 Coal Miner Born West Bromwich
William Taylor Grandson 12 Scholar Born Oldbury
and rockyfowler found this..
PROCTER William TAYLOR Sarah Tipton, St Martin (Pepper Box) Sandwell Register Office 39/8/497 1858
so... I have been trying to work out exactly how that grandson connects to William PROCTOR ( still trying to pin down my great grandfather!)
I found William & Sarah PROCTOR on every census from 1861 to 1901 & worked out that their children were:
Jane (B.1857), William (B.1859), Eliza (1863), George (1866), Joseph (1868), Joshua (1868), Fanny (1871) & Samuel (1876)
Now Jane's birthdate appears to be before they were married.... so is she really a TAYLOR not a PROCTOR(?)
Someone on Ancestry had this Jane PROCTOR married to a James MORGAN ( & there are MORGAN grandchildren living with the PROCTORS in 1901)
I found a marriage for James MORGAN(b1859) to Jane TAYLOR(age 24) on 25 Dec 1879 ( this from Ancestry)
but also found on Bmsgh.... same names....same date....Christchurch, West Brom, Staffs... Sandwell Reg Office 23/6/126
On the 1881 census I have found living at 67 Long Square, Witton Lane
James MORGAN (20) married puddler
wife Jane(24)
children Eliza(1)
and William (2) all born West. Brom
Was William born before she married James and is he also a TAYLOR though listed as MORGAN??
Getting more tied up the more I look at this... can anyone help me to make sense of it all?
Thankyou
