Who were those people? What was their story?

I was at the archives recently and got talking to the archivist there a lovely lady called ********

anyway before the glazed look came into her eye from my tales of family history she was telling me about a couple who
went for a walk and basically fell in the canal/cut on their way home and drowned....it was a foggy night.

So I got to thinking how about a section or thread where we can explore all those People with a sad tale or maybe a chequered history criminal ancestors, the poverty stricken, anyone really whose tale needs telling and roots exploring
