A moment of Nostalgia
I was watching Channel 4 this morning when they were talking about the Grand National and I got to thinking of how it used to be a "family" thing years ago in our house watching the Grand National. We'd all have a bet on who was going to win (no money changing hands, 'cos we day 'ave none) and getting really excited huddled around the telly waiting to hear "And they're off"
Then as you do, my mind started wondering about other times when we were all huddled around the telly one of them being when Manchester United were playing in the European Cup at Wembly. The atmosphere in our household was electric. Nowadays I just absolutely hate and detest football.
Then I got to thinking of a cricket game we used to play. We'd right down our teams's names and there used to be, how can I describe it, a small barrel shaped like a bullett, about an inch long with 6 flat sides and on these flat sides there was printed "not out", "lbw", "bowled", "caught", "stumped" was the 6th side "wide" ?? You used a dice to determine the runs scored.
Anybody else remember this game?

That's because I was brought up with 4 brothers and I was the piggy in the middle of them. Never liked girlie things, I was more for cowboys and indians, kick the can, climbing trees - I always had plasters on me knees.

We used to play kick the can in the street, when it was dark. Used to upset the neighbours a bit though.

I remember my kids having some of those clackers - they all mysteriously disappeared one night - can't think where they went
