William Birch was born in Oldbury in 1834.
He married Catherine? in 1860 but I suspect he married someone else before this.
He had two children John Birch c 01/1856- 1942 and Sampson c 1857. John b 1856 married Annie ? in 12/1877.

I am trying to fill in the ? gaps.
Who was the first wife.
When was she born, when did they marry and when did she die.
What about Sampson ? spelling and who was Annie?
Help please.

This marriage isn't listed on West Midlands BMD, so it was probably one of the Handsworth churches, St Mary or St James.

You will need to see a copy of this marriage, to see if he's been married before. What makes you think he was married twice?

You could ring West Bromwich Register Office - 0121 569 2480 and give them the name of John's father and ask if the mother's name was Catherine. They might ask you to buy the cert, but you might get lucky ....

Antie M,
John and Sampson were born in 1856 and 1857.The first marriage was probably 1856. There are two possible spouses Ann Maria Higgot or Elizabeth Walker. They died in 1859 and 1858 respectively. He married Catherine in 1860. Fanny was probably a child of this marriage, then Catharine dies in 1866 and he remarries Eliza ???? ? any more children. I dont have his death date.
