I'm on a coffee break so i have a bit of time on my hands!1
Can i submit another Hadley name?
There was a pub down Oldbury close to where Savacentre Petrol Station is now.It was on the corner of Union Street or was it Talbot Street? Anyway it was on the corner.Demolished in the seventies when Oldbury got its " facelift."
It was always called " Pop" Hadleys i never knew its real name but the beer was supposed to be the best drink on Oldbury.
I've often wondered if he was related to " my" Hadleys.

The pub was The Red Lion i think and although the pub was still called Pop Hadleys i think "Pop" himself was long gone!!
Pubs were often referredto by the name of the Publican long after the person in question was gone.

Wonder if it could be this one....

http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... =127893200

THOMAS4 HADLEY (ISAAC3, ISAAC2, ISAAC1) was born 1791 in Oldbury, Worcs.
He married SARAH DUNN 1810 in Dudley, Worcs. She was born 1790.

Notes for THOMAS HADLEY:
Publican.

Children of THOMAS HADLEY and SARAH DUNN are:
i. WILLIAM5 HADLEY, b. 1814, Oldbury, Worcs.
ii. HENRY HADLEY, b. 1817, Oldbury, Worcs.
iii. THOMAS HADLEY, b. 1820, Oldbury, Worcs.

I know this is way early!
but might have kept it in the family

Well I have to say the lovely people at roots web have come up trumps again!

Eng- Wor- Oldbury Roots web

I asked the question on there and some one said this

"The pub was called "The British Lion" although it was always referred to by
"Pop Hadley's" It was situated at 45 Talbot Street & the publicans name was
William Henry Hadley. He was publican according to Kelly's from 1900 to
1924 taking over from Harry Hadley which was possibly a rellie.
A Thomas Harris was publican in 1928"

Isn't it great when websites work together!
I have had a great deal of help in the past and good info from Roots web

So can we fly with this one.... find him on the 1901 census etc etc
