Hi
My 5xgreat grandfather was Matthew Bradford who was born in about 1764 somewhere. He wed Susannah Watty in 1798 in Southchurch, Essex. Susannah was of the parish and born there in 1780. The marriage entry says they were both of the parish and the witnesses names dont ring any obvious bells.
Matthew and Susannah had 3 known children, Matthew, Thomas and Isaac. All born in Southchurch.
In the 1841 census Matthew says he was not born in the county. There were a few Matthew Bradford's born in the Cambridgeshire and Suffolk areas including two who could be my one. One born in 1762 in Great Bradley Suffolk son of John and Ann and one born in Westley Waterless, Cambridgeshire in 1765 son of Thomas and Sarah. There was one born in Dalham but he died as a baby in 1762. If any of those two are mine I would be more inclined to go with the 1765 one. I cannot find a likely marriage for him in the area which would eliminate him or a burial.
I wonder if anyone else could perhaps help me in finding this ancestor Matthew Bradford. Thanks.
Ben
