I have received a birth certificate of my great grandfather and his mother's name was Dimsnock. I can't find any reference to this Surname in online sites.

When was your great grandfather born perhaps you could look for his mother on a census return.

Just a thought if your Gt Grandfather had siblings maybe if you were to get one of their certificates it may show that the Mothers name had been spelt incorrectly
