In the 1901 Census I have a Mary Baxter 4 years old, parents John and Emily Baxter siblings Emily, Lillian and Charles Baxter. But in the 1911 Census Mary who would be aged 14 is missing and Cecilia May Baxter aged 14 has replaced her, can anyone help to find out what has happened here.

My thoughts are that probably Mary was a pet name for Celia, or they called her May and the Census Enumerator mistook May for Mary. My granddad is on the 1901 census called William and on the 1911 he is called Henry. His birth certificate just says Henry - but my mom remembers him being called William, which must have been a pet name.
