ARC TBC - Joseph Griffiths (Reverend)

Joseph Griffiths was an Independent Minister, he was born circa 1783, whereabouts unknown, he died 20 Feb 1841.
On 22 May 1809 he married Mary Ann Adams at All Saints West Bromwich. From 1814 to 1820 he was at Oxford Independent Chapel Bilston where 3 sons were baptised ( Joseph, Thomas and Apollos, I have their details. I descend from Apollos).
In 1820 to 1825 he was at Bond End (Zion) Independent Chapel Nuneaton where a further son was baptised ( William, I have details)
In 1825 he moved to Birmingham he was at Legge Street Birmingham 1825 to 1836 then at Livery Street Birmingham 1836 to 1841 when he died. In abt 1826 a further presumed son James was born ( I have no details on him).
Mary Ann and William and James appear in the 1841 census living in Knott Street St George Birmingham after that no trace of any of them.
It is alleged in the Surman Index that Joseph was the son of another Reverend Joseph Griffiths although there is no source for the allegation.
This Joseph said to be born Coventry 1757 he lost his mother at a young age and his father returned to his native Wales he was brought up by his maternal uncle in Coventry. On 5th Sep 1782 he married Jane Mansfield at St Mary Greasley and a daughter Jane, was baptised at Penn Lane Independent Melbourne Derbyshire.
The elder Joseph was minister at various locations eventually being the minister of a church at Aston Tirrold in Berkshire where he died in 1818.
I am interested in any further children he may have had also in any wills for these people or any other information.[*]

Have know found William born 1820 in 1851, 1861, 1871 and 1881 census. He married a Sarah in 1842 4Q Registration District Kings Norton, Suspect this is Sarah Marlow ( 3 Sarah's on Page). In 1851 still living in parish of St George Birmingham in other 3 census living 347 Farm Street Hampton Birmingham.

I am a descendant of Rev. Joseph Griffiths through William Griffiths, christened Nuneaton 1820. (I did trace Apollos as far as his move down south.)In 1841 the family home was in Unett St. Birmingham not Knott St. Interestingly in 1851, George Adams (in 1841 census) is still living in Unett St. at number 2. I haven't found any record of James' birth either but it seems likely that the congregational records are not on line. I might get round to going back to B'ham library to check. William was married to Sarah Marlow. He was a tortoise-shell box maker.
I am very interested in the information you have on the senior Joseph Griffiths and curious as to what source you used to gain the information on his early childhood. I have not as yet gone further there, other than viewing the Surman Index. I spent a long time following the wrong Rev. Joseph Griffiths in B'ham., who arrived in the town around 1841 in time for the census. The directories just seem to show a continuation and I hadn't at that time found the death in the Surman index. However time not wasted as it proved to be really interesting.
If I do get to the library I'll look for a will for Joseph. I found none for William.

In the following link (book) it refers to Joseph Griffiths time at Bond End, and says that he was "from Bilston". Have you picked him up there at all pre-1820?

Thanks for the reference gardener. Yes as I mentioned Joseph was at the Oxford Independent Chapel in Bilston where his first 3 children were baptised.
