Mosquitoes....and flies........
We have had rain, sun, rain, sun, rain, sun for the last fortnight.
For instance, today we had 30 degree weather and 42mm of rain....
This has put a halt to the locusts for a while but the mossies and flies are the thickest I have seen in decades.
My little bug zapper just above my computer desk is going off none stop but I still have at least 10 bites.
At least I can leave the house when I want so compared to your snow problems its minor.
As long as we don't get the diseased mossies that is....

Re: Mosquitoes....and flies........
You know Marky i don't understand the people nowadays. The snow we've had has not been extreme. Not really, early maybe but it's not been that bad.1963?
I just don't understand why as soon as it snows Britain as well as where i live is in choas.
I never had a day off school when i was a kid back in the 50's 60's.
Personally i think we react waaaay over the top.
On the BBC news this morning "please send us all your winter photos".
5 minutes later the news about the 2018 World Cup was briefly discussed.
The presenter let us see how the news in the paper in 1960 announcing that England can stage the World Cup in 1966 was reported.
It was a small article on the back page amongst the other sport stories!!
I wonder what the papers will look like tomorrow!!
For the non sports people today is the day they(FIFA) decide who holds the 2018 World Cup.
The Moral of this ditty?

Re: Mosquitoes....and flies........
Don't know about In the UK, but last winter is in all our minds!
It snowed on the 22nd december and we had snow all the way through until march/april!!
In the south east of Denmark they say it's worse than last year and are saying don't go out - not just avoid unneccesary journies, but all journies! And some places it's going to be -15 tonight!
Here on the west coast, we might not have had huge amounts of snow (about 15cm) but what we've had is drifting, so in some places the roads are blocked.
It's just to early for this type of weather, if it's like this now, what's it going to be when winter really kicks in????

I just heard tonight that malaria-carrying mossies have been found in Norfolk! Is that true?

I dread getting Ross River or Dengue but they are rarely seen in Victoria.
I did get "Flinders Island Spotted Fever" from a tick about 6 years years ago and I beleive that caused the auto-immune reaction leading to narcolepsy.
Narcolpesy is caused by your immune system destroying a couple of thousand brain cells out of the billions in your head.
These cells produce a particular chemical which can't be produced any other way.

It's part of the British make-up to talk about the weather, it's like the Americans saying "Have a nice day". We like moaning about the weather!
