Havin a clear out

Just got rid of all my old school books
from when I was aged 11 onwards!.....so yes ancient...kept some.
Cleared all the loft out of clutter and it felt so sad chucking them, but had to
be done.

I kept some books backed in 70's paper wow! they were great
and my school report :roll:

Do you know we had an English teacher that asked us one day what we
wanted to be...my friend said a lawyer and I think I said a writer or journalist...
she shot us down in flames...we were year 3 so is that 14?
She said and I can remember it now..."oh I think that is a little beyond you"
Now we didn't go to a posh Grammer school it was a secondary school and
bit scary! but.....we went on my friend and I to prove em wrong ...or her wrong.
We gained our qualifications despite her labelling us. Maybe not at that school
but later in life.

Never say you can't do something... 8)

I like a good clear out :grin: but don't like getting rid of my things even the one's I have not looked at in years , and ask myself why do I hang on to them. :?

So good for you Northern Lass should I take a leaf from your book .

Just goes to show...
It's a shame you can't rub her nose in it. :o

My husband's maths teacher always gave him bad grades, and said he's never be an electrician (a good understanding of maths is essential if you're to be a good electrician). He's dyslexic, and was at a special school for a year - he got top marks there. When he went back to his secondary school, she gave him low marks again. He says that if she asked them something in class, he had no problem, but if it was a written problem then he struggled. Despite knowing about his dyxslexia she did nothing to help! He jokes (I hope) that if he saw her crossing the road he'd run her down. :shock:
He did his apprenticeship with a local electrician, who trusted him enough to send him out on his own during his last year, and has gone on to a higher education course (somewhere between an ordinary electrician and an electrical engineer in which you need to be good at vectors (beyond me!). He now works for the local electricity board planning and pricing big projects (but misses getting his hans dirty).

Needless to say we've lived in our new house for three years, and the electrics aren't finished yet :o :wink: :roll:

Not too far from there :roll:

Moss side is ok wolvie lived in Hulme in the 80's
he had a flat in the high rise flats there
And you could leave your car there!

Bless him think as a young student from Wolverhampton he got a shock
coming to Manchester.
But it was a great time in the 80's in Manchester.

Just cleared out all my feminist books, marxist books
and Wolvie! :P
