*Arc tbc* ---Hagley Road

Post by NickToye »

I've just discovered Hagley Road, nr Stourbridge was where my ancestors lived in 1891 - so basically I am looking to map a visit to the area and wanted to take in some of the old sites where my ancestors lived.

I have found out that they lived in 5 Hagley Road, which is now a pub/restaurant called The Swan. I'm really looking for confirmation that this actual street was over 100 years old, and that this pub was the place where my ancestors lived.

Anybody know anything from their own experiences?

I know the Hagley Road that ran into Stourbridge, most of it is now a Dual Carriageway, a lot of the old properties have gone, but No 5. could be in Stourbridge Town Centre, will have a look for The Swan and get back to you. Linell.

I found The Swan in Kelly's Directory for 1940, then run by a Thos H. Cook. Hagley Road is definitely more than 100 years old, I have seen pictures of it dating back to the 1800's. HTH from Linell.

If you check the image the number 5 is not an house number, it is the census Schedule number.
