WDYTYA in Danish!

Post by snoopysue »

Or VDHDE (Ved Du Hvem Du Er?)
Tonight is the premier of the Danish version of WDYTYA, so here's hoping they do it justice!!
The first episode is a Danish actor, Peter Mygind, and the trailers look promising. I'm hoping if it's a success they'll show some of the British ones.
Here's hoping....

The Australian ones were fantastic. I hope they do another series.

I've just seen the first episode, it was pretty okay. They could have shown a bit more about how they did their research though.
Earlier there was a talk show where the actor from the first episode was interviewed. He said that if they hadn't found anything interesting then the tv company wouldn't air the program!! Not that I'm really suprised.

I don't think they will be doing an Icelandic version... everyone knows who they are and can log onto a website and trace back for hundreds of years - back to settlement times if they are lucky. Mind you, takes all the fun out of it!

For each series they pick at least twice as many people to research as they actually make an episode about.

If they do not find anything interesting then that "celebrity" is not featured, no matter how popular they are.

They must also have loads more material than they actually show.
On the Danish episode last night, they traced the paternal line of both parents, but there was very little about the maternal side. I recon they'd researched it but there was nothing out of the ordinary so we didn't get to see it. One of the people they spent about 15 mins on wasn' a direct descendant but an uncle 5 generations back.

That is what they do. They find interesting people and highlight them whilst skipping over others.

'Tis true Rob!
Most are related at least if go back five generations. Good thing they have imported a few of us foreigners to liven up the gene pool!
