Im trying to find my g.grandmother in the 1901 and 1911 census.
ELIZABETH MARY MITCHELL
b.31.01.1893 London
d.1964 Falmouth, Cornwall
Father WILLIAM MITCHELL
Married ERNEST WALKER (1887-1941) in Chiswick, Brentford, 1913 while working as a domestic.
When ELIZABETH was 60 she sent off for her pension, at this time she discovered that the lady she knew as her mother wasn't her mother. We have the name 'WHITE' on an old family tree under her name so we think there might be a connection with a WHITE but we don't know for sure and it maybe a big old red herring.
By 1901 and 1911 though she would of been MITCHELL, she said she was brought up in the Eastend of London (we always thought it was Whitechappel) and the 2 sons we have been able to talk to knew of no siblings.
We have the wedding cert and her fathers name is given as WILLIAM MITCHELL-Farmer-deceased. Witnesses are CHARLES WALKER (Ernests father) and F or J HOF (we dont know who this is)
Her age is given as 21 and she was 6 months pregnant.
We simply cant find a definite her on either the 1901 or 1911
Mum and I are totally stuck and just don't know where she is! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Missing Elizabeth Mary MITCHELL
Maybe she was working as a Servant Girl somewhere and her name was either miss-transcribed or missed off altogether, I have ancestors that I can't find on some Census Entries, it happened a lot. HTH from Linell.

Re: Missing Elizabeth Mary MITCHELL
hi,
In 1911 she probably was working as a domestic, but in 1901 she would of been 8 and living at home, we know she came from a family that was 'comfortable' and that she had a full education probably leaving school at 12-14. Its the 1901 census that i really want to find her as it might give me some more information on the family
