I think the last time I bought a cert. was 2006 at the cost of £7 I think, now, as far as I can make out they are £15 is that correct? cor ! that seems a bit much, is there any way to view the details without having to buy one, for instance, just the parents names.

They're about £9.25 direct from the GRO, Ancestry charge a lot more - you can use ancestry's references (or free bmd) to order direct from the GRO.

Local registry offices are very helpful and usually about £9
but you would need to check on each one as they may differ
they will help you with an enquiry re you only want it if the parents are so and so this
helps narrow down which you need.
