Just had this arrive this morning. I need the profesion of the groom and his father. Also is the residence Dean St?

When and where was the marriage? If it was near enough to a census the street might be the same as the one on the marriage certificate. You could also check if there is another street in the same area that might be apossible alternative.

It is much easier when you can see the whole document so you can compare letters across all the writing.

The marriage was 03/08/1878 at St Nicholas church, Newcastle on Tyne. There is a Dean St very near the church, but according to the 1881 census they were not living in 'Dean St'

It would probably have surprised me more if they were living in Dean Street 3 years after their wedding as unless they were lucky they often had to start small and buy/rent bigger as the family came along -- the close proximity to the church is more useful as it suggests that it was their parish church which they would have to use to get married.
