Just starting my family tree and finding very interesting and addictive, my particular surname interests are Newell and Grainger from the Dudley and Spennymoor areas and also Silvester from the West Bromwich area.

Thanks for the warm welcome to the site and offers of help, it's much appreciated as I'm so new to this and not always sure of what I'm doing. Maybe that is part of the fun though.
Peterd, I'll have a look at your Grainger site tonight (off to work in five mins), I'm not in contact with Gareth Grainger yet, but will message him this evening. Have seen some of his messages when I have been browsing the site. Think we may have a family link, I'm sure my John Newell married his Phoebe Grainger and then moved oop north.
Thanks to Northern Lass, again, I'll check your link out tonight and see what the Black Country Connections is all about as I'm interested in finding out much more about the area from where the family originally came from. You never know it might solve my brickwall.
