World Cup 2010

Post by Rob »

Well it's going to start tomorrow !!!
Are we excited or what?
Is England going to win The Jules Rimet Cup again 44 years after the late great Sir Bobby Moore ( he only had an OBE but it was a disgrace he was never knighted!!!)
raised it above his head on that long ago day in July 1966.
I was in Blackpool on my holidays with my mates in a boarding house one street back from The Golden Mile.We had a few drinks that night to celebrate being kings of the world.
Anyway enough of reminicising who's going to win the coveted trophy.
Holland? All the streets are orange over here.
Spain European Champions?
Brazil? Who do you think?
Me? If it's not going to be England then i'm going for Argentina if only to see Diego Maradonna walk naked, like he''s promised to do, through the streets of Buenos Aries !!
Footballs coming home it''s coming footballs coming home!!!

A couple of my mates jumped on a plane yesterday and have got tickets for ten matches including the finals.

Not jealous or anything....

As long as Australia get to the final 16 I will be happy.

If Pommyland doesn't win (I can't wait to see them play the USA) then I don't care as long as it isn't France.

I would love to see one of the free flowing teams like Cameroon or Nigeria at least make the final and their style of play become more popular. "Defence? We don't need any stinking defence!!".

The Yanks played very well. Their goalie was the Man Of The Match. I think they should give him a British Passport. God knows England need him.

I just hope the Aussies teach those arrogant Germans a thing or two about humility. So what if they have won three world cups and are ranked way above us. We won the war :P

yanks are a good side you cannot take that away from them but everyone forgets there 6 times the size of england so they should have a good team ?

The size of thje country or its population is not relevant Peterd.
Holland is about the size of Wales and they're considered favourites to get to at least the sem-finals.
America's major sports are Baseball and Basketball.Soccer is in the minority and considered a bit cissy,or so this Red Neck from Alabama told me once !!
If the size of the country was all that mattered then Mongolia should be in the top ten instead they are known for their sheep and goat breeding!! Oh and Mongolian Wrestling!!

You would think India with 1.2 billion people would be able to field a better cricket side than us 22 million Aussies.

Anybody should be able to thrash those pesky 3.5 million New Zealanders at Rugby.

And how come England can't get anywhere near the Aussie medal tally at both Olympic and Commonwealth games?

Size of population is irrelevant.

It is how much money and time you invest in your elite sportsmen.

George Best lookalike? After he has been dead for a few years? Ewwwwwww!!!

I just turned off the soccer after Cahill was red carded for nothing and Germany went up three nil.

Oh the pain....the pain...

And Mark Webber got beaten by a couple Poms in the F1 race......oh the indignity......the shame....

I like your style Northern Lass!!

Unless I suddenly find a long lost ancestor who played for England, I don't think football fever will ever reach me. Now cricket on the other hand........
