I added my John Tromans and family to bcc, and added his father Benjamin with a note to say he may already be on, but as on Johns mariage cert Benjamin is down as a chainmaker and I couldn't find them together on any census I left it at that till I had Johns brith cert.
This is what I added

I have now obtained Johns birth cert, and it seems he was the son of this Benjamin Tromans and Rhoda Parkes (Spelt Parkes on cert) Benjamin was down as a labourer on cert. Here they are already on bcc.

NL are you happy for me to delete the Benjamin and John I added and connect the others up accordingly??

Seems I not only have a bigamist in the family, but now I also have an Idiot..... still that does explain a lot.......

Yes of course
all you have to do is change the name of your John to Test as his surname
delete the father you added Benjamin
then go to Benjamin and Rhoda
where it says son
click on
then it says does this person exist
click on that
scroll down the surnames to Test
choose that one add it
then it will be connected
and then delete the other JOhn

that is the easiest way I think

and that is a great connection I wondered who that John married

:P
