West Midland council workers lef tin the dark....

Post by MarkCDodd »

The excuse for this is rubbish. You install movement detectors in the toilets and if there is no movement in ten minutes, turn out the lights.

Nobody relies on set timers.

This is just forcing 10 minute loo breaks.

It does read oddly, Mark. But wouldn't you need a movement detector in each stall? And, generally speaking, isn't there just one switch and then lights in the ceiling someplace?
I would have thought that if most people were switching off the light anyhow then a timer would be a good solution but on a longer time-period than 10 minutes - which is pretty short.

I work in a seven storey office block where 95% work normal office hours but i'm one of the 5% who dont.
I have been unfortunate to be in the toilet when the lights went off automatically at 6pm leaving me trying to find the door about five yards away in pitch darkness!!
All sense of direction seems to disappear and i was panicking like mad with my hands on the wall trying to find the door knob!!
No more!! I have acquired a sort of miners helmet which i wear in there, leaves both hands free as well.
Isn't this the solution to the problem?
Surely a better one than Mark's bowel movement detectors!!

Aha, I realise my error in using hte term "movement detector".

You have a single detector that lets you know when somebody is within the body of the bathroom, not in a cubicle.

The Japanese, and some smart toilets I have seen installed recently in the local shopping mall, have detectors that sense when the toilet is being sat upon.

These are ued to ensure no druggies pass out undetected and also to time the lighting.
