Here, Edward is the son of Samuel and Maria but Samuel dies in 1892, could Jane and her new husband Sampson Bastable, have bought him up as their own?

Samuel and Maria could have had another dau - Maria. She would have been born in 1892 the same year that Samuel Foster died

1901: 108, Halesowen St, Blackheath, Rowley Regis
Sampson Bastable, head, 30, Bricklayer,
Jane, wife, 30, Nail Maker,
Edward Foster Bastable, son, 11,
Maria Foster Bastable, daur, 9,

George Bastable , son, 6,
Sarah Bastable, daur, 5,
Lily Bastable, daur, 3,
Nellie Bastable, daur, 1
George Clift?, Boarder, 44, Hay Cutter, Halesowen
All others born Rowley Regis

I dont think that Edward and Maria were born to Jane before she married - what do you think?

Sorry, just edited my previous post to - Maria would have been born in 1892 the same year that Samuel Foster died

I think Jane Foster is the sister of both Maria and Edward - see 1891 Census above, and she and Sampson Bastable adopted them after her father Samuel died

I think the only way to prove that would be a birth cert.
I cant understand why they would adopt if they were brother and sisters to be honest? And Maria is still alive with the other children in 1901?
May be 1911 might help and hope they are still with them?
Jo :)
