UPDATE.....Knight, Jenkins,Pearson, Cartwright, Terry

Post by Kerry Hunt »

I am new to this site but have been researching my family tree on and off since 2006, mainly using the Genes Reunited site and Scots People. I originally started to research my mum's mothers side of the family as my mum had very little information about that side of her family. I have managed to trace that side of the family to Scotland, although I still have a lot of unanswered questions about my grandmother's life. I am currently researching my grandfathers side of the family, he was Arthur Ronald Knight, and the family were originally from the Black Country. His mother and father were both from the Cradley and Stourbridge area, and were Annie Laura Jenkins and Arthur Thomas Knight.

Briefly Annie's parents were Albert Jenkins and Annie Pearson.
Albert's parents were Jenkin Jenkins and Martha Cartwright

Arthur Thomas Knight's parents were Thomas Henry Knight and Louisa Terry
I believe Louisa Terry's parents were a Basil and Elizabeth Terry, and that she may have had a brother Henry and sister Emily.
Thomas Henry Knight was born I believe in the Newhaven area of Sussex, and I am sure he had a brother, as in the 1901 census a Thomas H Knight was living with Louisa and Thomas and was listed as a nephew aged 3.

I have other information regarding siblings etc and other names that are linked through marriage, and I would really like to know who Thomas Henry Knight's (the nephew) parents were.

Would love to hear from anyone who may be able to help.

Regards

Have found family in 1911 census, Thomas Henry Knight, the father, had died before the census and the head of the family was my great great grandmother Louisa Knight nee Terry, Arthur T and Frank L were actually brothers, Thomas H, the nephew was no longer living with them. But a Eliza Talbot, a widow, aged 63, who is listed as a mother, was living at the address, I believe her to be Louisa's mother although she would have been a Terry, can only assume she remarried. They still lived at 114 Enville Street, and were still bakers.

I have also found a record on the 1911 census for a Thomas Henry Knight age 13, living with grandparents Elijah Parkes 54 (Vice Maker Forger) married 29 years to Phoebe Parkes 58, in Worcestershire, Dudley. Thomas Henry Knight's place of birth is shown as Worcestershire, Dudley.

I have also found a marriage record for a William Knight to a Kate Maria Parkes, in Dudley Jun 1896 Ref 6c 21, and a birth record for Thomas Henry Knight Dudley 6c 112 Dec 1897, but I am unsure if these would be the correct people. I am planning on sending for the birth certificate to see who the parents were. I am also going to send for the marriage certificate for Thomas Henry Knight, my great great grandfather to see who his father was, which I hope will then help me discover whether he had any brothers or sisters.

Having looked at 1901 Census I am now unsure, there is an entry for a Thomas Henry Knight age 3 living with his grandparents Elijah Parkes, is it possible that he may have lived with his uncle Thomas Henry Knight and family and then moved to his grandparents therefore appearing in two census records for 1901??

I have also found a record in the 1901 census for Henry Knight (Head) and Agnes Knight (wife), that matches the record for the 1911 census info, children Ada 9, Harry 7, Albert 4, Thomas 3 and Ann Knight 69. If perhaps Henry died in this year, that may explain why again Thomas (Henry) was also living with uncle in 1901 as well.

Have not yet found record for Kate Maria and William Knight in 1901 census.
