Personally I don't like my name shortened and Mallosa is such a pretty name I can understand why you wouldn't want it shortened!
The people I hate are those who ask for my name - I give them my proper name and they promptly shorten it -
eg "Hello I am Elizabeth"
"Good to meet you Liz!"
I just find that rude

Sorry MG, I didn't mean to mislead you! My reply was solely for Rob who is just being plain awkward

The truth: My name, Sandra is shortened to San. Mallosa is a variation on my surname

Re: Does your name get shortened ?
I like having my name shortened to 'Di'. When I am in trouble my husband and my mum both address me as DiANe.
Some mistakes are too much fun

But which would you prefer? or does it depend on who is using it?
And I still feel Mallosa has a ring to it--- a suggestion for the next generation?

Re: Does your name get shortened ?
I always got my full name at home, and most of the time at school but some shortened it to Trina which I hated! Thought it sounded like a poodle
So when I went to uni I told everyone I was Kate and that has been me every since.

Re: Does your name get shortened ?
My dad always called by Clarabelle ot Christabelle, it wasn't until I started doing the family searching bit that I found out his Grandmothers name was in fact Clara.........
Most people just call me Chris, which is ok by me.
Years ago a woman at work always called me Chrissy, which I hated, it made me sound about five. Even though I asked her not to, she wouldn't stop until I shortened her name to something she disliked........
If Mom rings and calls me Christine I know I'm in trouble
