I can't see a Richard that is involved in boating of any sort, and I can't see an Ellen any where that fits.

From the marriage details Richard, father , was a miner not a boatman - it was Ellen's husband Joseph that was the boatman - does that help?

It do'snt help. The only Ellen that fits age wise is married to a William.
