English Death certificates

Post by Sandra »

Could someone help me please. Can you tell me if an English death certificate shows the names of the children. I am thinking of getting a death certificate for Joseph Warren who died in Pontypool in 1917 age 83yrs to see if I can find the names of his children.
Thank you in advance.

Hi Sandra, on the death certificate I have for my Grandfather in 1952 it states......

When and where he died - Name and Surname - Sex - Age - Rank or Profession - Cause of Death - Signature, Description and Residence of Informant - When Registered - Signature of Registrar

If one of his children happened to be the informant, I'm afraid that's the only reason he/she would be named on his death certificate.
If you would like to have your ancestors photo's included in our Gallery, please send me a pm.

Researching: Evans, Rollason, Henley/Hendley, Brookes, Taylor (Wilson - Birmingham)

Thank you for your quick reply. So a English death certificate will not show the childrens names, it does here in Aust. Well that is another bright idea out the window.
Thanks again for your help.

Yes, I have found him in 1851,1861,1871,1881 and 1891 and a lot of the children are there, but I am trying to connect him to a 'Charles' who could have been born after 1870 who is my Grandfather. I have a post on this site under General Discussion - Joseph Warren - Mary Edwards, maybe you would like to have a look. I have had so much help and its wonderful but the connection is still missing.
Let me know what you think.

That is about the only reason to buy an Aussie Death Cert is for the list of children, thier birth dates and if they are still alive.

You already know the parents from the index.

Other usefull things on the Aussie certificates are the list of marriages and places of residence.

Another possibility is trying to see if he left a will as they can be full of useful info too.

Hi

I'm new here but think we are on the same family line. It's been a huge help what I have found here.
I do however know the children (or most of them that I've found) of Joseph Waren who died in Abersychan in 1917
William Warren born abt 1858
Henry Warren born abt 1859
George Warren born abt 1860
John Warren - born around 1861
Alice Warren - born around 1864
Hannah Warren - born around 1865
Emily Warren - born around 1866
Twins - Banjamin Edward Warren and Lilly Ada Warren born around 1871 but Lilly died in 1872

If that helps

Linda
