*Arc tbc* --VICKERSTAFF in wolverhamptom
I am looking for the marriage of George VICKERSTAFF b. abt 1828 to Dorothy Hannah SMITH b. abt 1833 propbably in Wolverhampton. Their 1st child william was born abt 1860 prob in wolverhampton. George V. parent were George v. and Mary BURNS. I have not located either of them. He had a brother william b. 1825. Some family trees have a William George but I have two death certs showing they were brothers. They may have been born in Burslem. I have a Ann V. chr/ 1819 John 1822 and William 1825 to George and Mary in Burslem found in Ancestry. How do I advance from here?

Re: VICKERSTAFF in wolverhamptom
George and Hannah immigrated to NZ 1879 When George is said to be 49 and Hannah 45 They had children with them aged 19,15,13,10,7,6. I have failed to find the family in the census before they immigrated. Perhaps I should be looking at Vickers? Also if they were married in 1854 surely the children would have arrived before 1860?

A George Vickerstaff of the right age emmigrated to New South Wales in 1848.
He arrived aboard the Castle Eden on the 9th October 1848 and says he is a Primative Methodist. Farm Servant, can read and write, came from Rugby in Staffordshire and is 23 years of age.
He gives his parents as Michael and Elizabeth from Oldbury.

Any children born 1854-1860 could have died or been left behind as they would have been adults and possibly married

Are these two Georges the same person? Went to Australia as a young man - went home married - and took his family back later?

Re: VICKERSTAFF in wolverhamptom
There is a whole dynasty of them in Burslem.
Ann 1819, John 1822 and William 1825 have a George Vickerstaff born 1778 in Burslem as their father.

Re: VICKERSTAFF in wolverhamptom
Can anyone answer this for Sandie?
Presume other message boards like ancestry and genes would show you who is researching a name
or Tribal pages trees etc
I think Vickers might be his name on that marriage...dunno
Unless we can help you with anything else on this will move it to the archived section
it can always be brought back for further discussion with more evidence etc
