this thread is for John Southall
can we find a dob for him and a wife
son is Joseph Southall b abt 1835 both chainmakers
joseph son marries in 1854

There is this Joseph with a father John in Lye, trouble is the occupations are very out :!:

1851 Turnpike Road Lye
John Southall HD M 32 Grocer and Victualler All born Lye
Elizabeth Wife 38
Joseph Son 16 Carter

BUT also in Turnpike Road Lye 1851 is SUSANNAH DAVIS the Marriage Witness

Hi Jo, yes I have the 1851 on disc, and that is the only Joseph with a father John. I would think he is from Lye, being as his wife was from Lye. But there again you never know! Could be a Joseph who's father John has died and mother re-married? Think we will have to leave this just add these notes to BCC as a maybe. Linell.
