Beat this!

Post by Maths girl »

I know you all enjoy a challenge so beat this for modern day idiocy!

I went to a wellknown supermarket this morning and only having 6 items decided to risk the serve yourself tills - all went well until I tried to pay - authorisation needed said the computer - I looked at my buys and wondered what I was buying that needed me to be checked out -
Alcohol -NO
Tobacco - NO
Knives - NO
Any Sharp implements - NO

By this time I was running out of ideas so when the checkout man arrived I said " I'm only buying 2 packets of soup, 2 packets of bread rolls(gluten-free!) and two newspapers - why do you need to check my age?"

"The newspapers!", he said and left me open mouthed - luckily I apparently looked over the required age or presumably I would have had to produce my passport to be able to buy a daily paper

so if all those of you who look young remember to take your ID with you if you want to buy a newspaper!

AND before anyone asks - no I was not buying the papers renowned for their saucy pictures!
