Artemia Ingrouille
This one is bugging me....
He was born on Guernsey, Channel Islands, about 1827-1830. More than likely St Peter Port.
He can be found in the 1841 Census at St Peter Port with his father Thomas nd mother Mary and siblings..
Somehow he got to Australia before 1858. I have no idea how.
He married a Mary Ann Keehan (Kehanan) from Pasrsontown in Kings County, Ireland.
We assume the marraige was 1858 but we can't find it anywhere in Australia, Ireland, Guernsey or Timbuctoo.
They had two children in Australia.
Sophia Ingrouille born 1859 in Violet Town, Victoria.
Mary Ann Ingrouille born 3rd June 1863 in Melbourne.
Parentage of Mary Ann is under a cloud as Artemia apparently kicked the bucket in November 1861 according to Mary Ann Keenan's second wedding certificate.
Mary Ann Keenan's second husband was to another Mariner, Robert Cutler, from London. They married in 1867 in North Melbourne, Victoria and had a few kids...
I can't find:
a) How Artemia got to Australia.
b) What happened to the Ingrouille children. Did they got back to the UK?
c) The marriage between Artemia and Mary Ann Kehanan (Keenan).
d) His death certificate.
I believe Artemia was a Mariner. He was made aide-de-camp to the Governor of Victoria just before he died of pneumonia. I believe he was given the rank of Captain prior to the aide-de-camp position.
Please people, have a look at whatever sources you have.
Any info on this bloke and his kids would be appreciated.

Re: Artemia Ingrouille
Rachel is not in the Victorian Index and would probably be on the Consulate or GRO Overseas BMD.
These Ingrouille's would have returned to the UK between 1862 and 1863.

Re: Artemia Ingrouille
Rachel is all on the 1871 census but all it says is Australia. That narrows her birth place down to......a whole continent!
Looks like she travelled to the U.S.A in 1906 so that might give me more of a clue.
She also had a sister, Martha, born in Australia in 1860.
Their father, Eleazar, is aboard a Royal Naval Vessel in Madagascar in the 1861 census.
A Peter Ingrouille from Guernsey is also aboard...
I hate tracking Mariners.....
