*TBC archive?* help

Post by dianepearson79 »

Heya all

im trying to find a birth certificate for a Sarah Stanton, say's on the 1861 census she was born: 1841 Westbramwick, Staffordshire, England, (Which district would i look at? )
On her Marriage cert which was 9 April 1860 it says she was a (minor) and her husband was John Williamson (Full age). Now im thinking that Minor means under the age of 18yrs and full is over 18yrs would that be correct ?

Her father was James Stanton (engineer) and they were resident in Dudley according to the marriage cert, witnesess where a Ellen-Maria Taylor (which im persuming is her sister) As i have found a census in 1851 with both a Sarah, Ellen-maria with father Thomas Stanton.

Thanks Diane

Hi,

Are you sure it doesn't say West Bromwich?

Think minor was probably under 21.

There is a Sarah Stanton born West Bromwich 1839 december Quarter on Free BMD

A person should have an opinion on everything, It becomes tact whether you reveal that opinion or not.

Diane, Harborne covered a large area, parts of Smethwick came under Harborne as did parts of West Bromwich, so you are probably talking about the same place. The reference on the Marriage Certificate to Dudley, was more than likely a rouse so they could marry there. Re-reading your Post, I think that is what you meant, that Sarah and John Married in Dudley :?:
