If you recall...

There were some questions about the parnetage of George Cutler (1846-1901) from Oldbury.

I obtained his birth certificates and he, and his six siblings, have William Cutler and Sarah Clarke as their parents.

Trouble is, nobody could find a William Cutler - Sarah Clarke marriage ANYWHERE in England.

So...I had the theory that Sarah Clarke married a George Moore who died early in the marriage.

She then married William Cutler soon after as Sarah Moore.

I just received the Willaim Cutler and Sarah Moore wedding certificate. I put an extra check on it to ensure it was only sent in William's father was shown as Daniel.

William's father is Daniel on certificate but:

a) She is listed as a Spinster, not a Widow.

b) Ages are not shown. She is listed as a Minor, which would fit in with Sarah Clarke.

c) Her fathers name is listed as John Moore....not a Clarke!

d) Both William and his father have an occupation of Whitesmith....something I havenot seenon their census returns.

The marriage is alo later than the birth of the first child, Daniel.

So it doesn't look a good fit.

What next?

so she is a Sarah Moore married as such and father is a John Moore
so the wrong one

The Marriage could well be at one of the Churches not on the IGI.

Not sure how local to West Bromwich you require the marriage to be. the following one isn't local at all

There is a marriage for a William Cutler age 23 and Sarah Crook age 22 on 8th June 1840 at Monks Risborough, Buckingham on the IGI.

Missheard surname perhaps??

Do you hve them on all census? Any possible family living near?

It adds up other than she is down as spinster doesn't it?

So are we sayin that that 1841 is our Wm with father Daniel?

Only way I can fit it together is if her father was John Moore but her mother was Somebody Clarke and parents never married.
Or possibly her father was John Moore but he died and her mother remarried a Calrke and she took his name - only it doesn't say deceased does it for John?

PS Was this a mistake in the top post? "The marriage is alo later than the birth of the first child, Daniel." Wasn'r daniel born in the middle, or was there an earlier one who died?

Or the marr doc should say John Clarke not Moore
and her mother is a Moore and married John Clarke
that one living next door to Daniel Cutler

But maybe the marriage was later so she is a Sarah Moore

this could be Mary

You are right, I meant to say later than George.....

The children I have listed are

Matilda Cutler abt 1848 (I haven't found her birth cert. There is a couple in 1841...)
William Cutler abt 1850 (Take a pick from about 6 or 7 in Worcestershire......)

Elizabeth Cutler 22 Feb 1861


The William Cutler - Sarah Moore marriage is 30/08/1846.

On reflection I think we are trying too hard to make this fit together.
